Luttrell Staffing Group in Atkins, VA is hiring a Welder for full-time, temp-to-hire work on the 2nd shift (5 PM to 5 AM). You will read blueprints, prepare materials, and weld using MIG, TIG, or Stick processes, under strict safety standards.

The role requires a HS diploma, welding certification preferred, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Weekly pay and a fast-start date are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Welding certification or technical training preferred.
• Proven experience as a welder, preferably in energy or electrical manufacturing.
• Proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, arc, etc.).
• Ability to interpret and work from detailed specifications and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
• Clean and inspect materials; ensure surfaces are clean and aligned for welding.
• Cut metal with plasma cutters, grinders, or torches before welding.
• Choose welding method (MIG, TIG, Stick, FCAW) based on material and project.
• Test welding machines and perform routine maintenance.
• Monitor welds for defects and report issues to supervisors.
• Keep accurate records of completed welds.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Details for Welder position:

• Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire

• One week Monday-Wednesday and following Monday-Thursday

Job Duties for Welder

• Reading and interpreting blueprints: Analyze technical drawings, welding symbols, and blueprints to understand the specifications for each welding job
• Cleaning and inspecting materials; ensure the surfaces to be welded are clean, free from rust, oil, or debris, and property aligned for accurate welding.
• Use tools like plasma cutters, angle grinders, or torches to cut metal to required sizes before welding
• Choose the appropriate welding method (MIG, TIG, Stick, or FCAW) based on the type of metal, thickness, and project requirements
• Test the functionality of the welding machine, ensuring that it operates properly before starting any work
• Perform routine maintenance on welding machines, including cleaning and replacing work parts like nozzles, tips, or electrodes
• Continuously monitoring the welds for defects such as porosity, cracks, or incomplete penetration during the process
• Keep accurate records of completed welds
• Report any welding defects, equipment, malfunctions, or quality issues to supervisors or project managers
• Follow all policies and safety procedures in place
• Complete any other related tasks as needed
