Job summary

Sulzer is seeking a skilled welding technician to operate specialized machinery, read welding prints, and oversee automated processes in our La Porte, TX service center. You will maintain and repair equipment, enforce strict safety standards, and collaborate across departments to deliver high-quality welds while supporting LEAN initiatives. Overtime may be required, and you must bring your own basic tools within six months.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of turbo machinery repair.
• Ability to read engineering prints for welding department.
• Commitment to safety regulations and procedures.
• Willingness to work overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Maintain training certification (GTAW, SMAW, SAW, etc.).
• Read all welding prints issued to the department.
• Follow welding instructions to produce quality welds per approved methods.
• Operate overhead cranes, torches, grinders and forklifts.
• Communicate clearly with Weld personnel, Supervisor and Lead Man.
• Support LEAN objectives within the department.
• Engage in safety, environmental protection and continual improvement initiatives.

About the role

Job Summary Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines that perform the same job. Maintain and repair all machinery. Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors. Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper training certification (GTAW, SMAW, SAW, etc.)
• Be able capable of reading all prints issued to welding department
• Accurately follow welding instructions to provide quality welds within the appropriate approved methods
• Ability to use and operate overhead cranes, torches, grinders and forklifts
• Work closely and communicate clearly with the other departments, Weld personnel, Supervisor and Lead Man
• Maintain LEAN objectives within the department
• Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection and continual improvement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understand of turbo machinery repair.
• Must have the required tools to perform their expected tasks within 6 months of hire.
• Must be able to use precision measuring instruments.
• Must be able to work overtime when necessary.
