Job summary

StaffSource, LLC is seeking an experienced Flux-Core Welder (FCAW) to support the fabrication of crane components in our Knoxville-area shop. You will read drawings, set up joints, and perform multi-pass FCAW on heavy steel to meet project specifications.

This role requires passing an FCAW test, operating overhead cranes and rigging equipment, and maintaining safety and quality in a fast-paced environment. We offer competitive pay and a path for skill advancement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of flux-core (FCAW) welding experience
• Ability to pass a flux-core welding test in multiple positions
• Experience welding large assemblies or heavy equipment components
• Strong knowledge of weld symbols, blueprints, and fabrication drawings

Responsibilities

• Perform FCAW welding on heavy steel components used in crane construction.
• Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols.
• Fit, align, clamp, and tack-weld parts into proper position before final welding.
• Execute multi-pass welds on thick structural steel following welding procedures and quality standards.
• Operate fabrication equipment such as cutting torches, grinders, and overhead cranes/hoists.
• Inspect welds for accuracy, defects, and compliance with project specifications.
• Ensure proper weld preparation, including cleaning, beveling, and material handling.
• Work closely with supervisors, fabricators, and quality control personnel to ensure precision and safety.
• Follow all shop safety protocols, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Position Overview

This position will work in a welding and fabrication shop environment, joining heavy-gauge steel components, ensuring structural integrity, and contributing to the safe and timely construction of the crane.
