Position Summary

The Welder is responsible for understanding blueprints and welding techniques to execute high standards of welding performance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Interpret blueprints to fabricate structural steel.
2. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
3. Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
4. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
5. Set up components for welding in accordance with specifications.
6. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures for flaws.
7. Maintain equipment to ensure safety and quality standards.
8. Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
9. Keep work areas clean and organized.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a welder.
• Experience with various welding techniques (flux-core, MIG).
• Experience using electrical or manual tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Knowledge of safety standards and use of protective gear.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to learn overhead crane operations.
• Proficiency in English.
• Professional certification (e.g., AWS welding certificate) is a plus.

Additional Information

• No supervisory responsibilities.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Physical ability to squat, bend, twist, lift up to 75 lbs, and work in various weather conditions.

Work Environment

Work mostly in a shop setting with variable noise levels, equipment use, and exposure to weather conditions. Safety precautions are required.
