Siemens Energy in the United States, North Carolina, Rural Hall is seeking an experienced welder to perform assembly, welding, and rework of industrial turbine components. You will read travelers and blueprints to determine welding requirements, set up welding equipment, and ensure quality, safety, and efficiency in production.

A Snapshot of Your Day This position is responsible for performing the assembly, welding, and rework of industrial gas and steam turbine components, including rings, vanes, and small parts, with minimal supervision while meeting manufacturing and customer specifications. Daily duties include reading and interpreting work travelers, blueprints, and related documentation to determine welding requirements; setting up and operating welding equipment and workstations; selecting the appropriate weld wire and materials based on product specifications; preparing, polishing, and inspecting components prior to welding; and performing structural and cosmetic welds in accordance with established manufacturing standards. The role also involves ensuring quality workmanship, supporting new part manufacturing processes, and completing assigned production tasks safely, accurately, and efficiently.

How To Make An Impact

• Perform precision TIG and laser welding on industrial gas and steam turbine components, including rings, vanes, castings, and nickel alloy parts, ensuring all work meets engineering, manufacturing, and customer specifications.
• Support production goals by assembling, repairing, and reworking components while maintaining workflow efficiency, minimizing defects, and delivering high-quality finished products.
• Interpret work travelers, blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering instructions to accurately execute welding operations and ensure compliance with established procedures.
• Prepare, inspect, polish, and weld components using the appropriate materials, weld wire, and techniques to achieve structural integrity and cosmetic quality standards.
• Drive product quality by conducting visual inspections, evaluating completed welds for conformance, and identifying opportunities for continuous process and workmanship improvement.
• Maintain a safe and productive work environment by setting up and troubleshooting welding equipment, performing routine maintenance activities, collaborating with maintenance teams, and supporting cross-functional manufacturing objectives.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED, plus completion of a certified welding program resulting in a vocational diploma, or a minimum of two years of equivalent hands‑on TIG welding experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in one or more welding processes, including Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG), Metal Inert Gas (MIG), and/or Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Arc), with the ability to consistently produce high‑quality welds.
• Proven ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot welding equipment and workstations while adhering to safety, quality, and production requirements.
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications, and other manufacturing documentation to accurately complete welding and repair activities.
• Experience working with specialized materials such as castings and nickel alloys, along with a solid understanding of welding techniques, product inspection, and basic equipment maintenance practices.
• Commitment to quality and continuous improvement, including the ability to pass required welding certification and qualification tests, successfully complete a practical TIG weld test, and perform detailed inspections to ensure compliance with manufacturing standards.
