As a premier fuel and hydraulic tank producer, IFH Group, Inc. is a growing company and destination employer for professionals and skilled experts. This full-time Welderposition is 100% on-site in Rock Falls, Illinois, and eligible for insurance benefits on the 1st day of the month following date of hire.

Welder for the fabrication team plays a critical role by performing precise and strong MIG and TIG weldments with standard fabrication techniques and according to appropriate bead size and other specifications while also prioritizing safety and quality excellence. This role takes and uses accurate measurements, reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The information below describes physical activities and surroundings an individual may encounter while performing primary responsibilities and essential functions of this position. Physical Demands: Constant standing with repetitious hand and finger movements to use and operate welding gun, hand and power tools, welding and brazing equipment, torches, and shields; detect, perceive, identify, observe, inspect, and assess welding processes; express and exchange information in-person. Constant moving/traversing and positioning self to reach overhead and at or below the shoulder; move and position objects up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment: Constantly works in manufacturing setting on the shop floor with exposure to fluctuating temperatures and noise levels at or above 100 decibels on average. Working on the shop floor requires safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear while welding on the shop floor requires additional personal protective equipment including, but not limited to welding helmet, gloves, flame-resistant clothing (i.e., welding jacket), and respiratory protection.

Basic Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree or certificate from accredited academic institution in welding highly preferred;
  • Two (2) years’ previous work experience with machine/metal fabrication, MIG welding, and/or TIG welding highly preferred; or
  • Combination of college coursework and relevant work experience highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong work ethic with integrity while prioritizing safety and quality excellence.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to perform MIG and TIG welding.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to perform strong and precise weldments according to bead size and other specifications.
  • Knowledge and ability to demonstrate basic reading, math, and writing skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Knowledge, ability, and skill to take and use accurate measurements.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to operate and use hand and power tools, and welding and brazing equipment, torches, and shields.
  • Ability, knowledge, and skill to demonstrate professionalism and use respectful communication with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability and willingness to comply with all company policies, processes, and procedures including, but not limited to safety and code of conduct.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply basic computer skills.
  • Ability and skill to fluently speak, read, write, and understand English.
