Overview

Job Summary : Consider joining the Pennex family as a Welder in our Wellsville, PA location. The Welder fabricates and assembles structural metal products such as furnace tools, oven baskets, framework for machinery, ovens, tanks, stacks, and metal parts for machinery. This is an 8-hour shift, 7am to 3pm, working Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fabricates equipment components and fixtures by following work instructions and drawings, utilizing best practices of welding, cutting, grinding, and finishing.
  • Performs related tasks such as oxyfuel and arc.
  • Repairs components using best practices of welding, cutting, grinding and finishing.
  • Designs and constructs templates and fixtures.
  • Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications.
  • Fabricates and assembles sheet metal products.
  • Locates and marks bending and cutting lines into workpiece.
  • Develops layout, sets up and operates equipment such as saws, grinders, arc cutters, and drill presses.
  • Hammers, chips, and grinds workpiece to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
  • Understands preheat requirements for weld prep.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Welding certification or educational credits preferred

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of welding, fabricating, and/or industrial maintenance experience

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use measuring devices, rulers, micrometers, etc.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read maintenance blueprints, hydraulic schematics, ladder diagrams and bill of materials.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available.
  • Regular attendance required.

Physical

  • The employee is regularly required to stand.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

  • Primarily indoors, but may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; airborne particles and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually elevated.
