Job summary

nVent in Oshkosh, Wisconsin is seeking a Welder to produce high-quality components for our electrical protection and connection solutions, with openings on multiple shifts including flexible first shifts at 5:00 AM, 6:00 AM, or 7:00 AM, and a second shift at 2:00 PM.

You will reference blueprints, set up welding equipment, and weld steel, aluminum, copper, and other materials while maintaining strict quality standards and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Welding certification preferred.
  • Proven welding experience with ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Experience with fabrication and welding in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use a tape measure accurately.
  • Proficiency with cutting torches, plasma cutters and grinders.
  • Familiarity with SOPs and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Reference blueprints and collaborate with Lead person to determine job requirements.
  • Gather necessary materials and perform layout per specifications.
  • Set up welding machines and adjust settings for efficiency.
  • Operate welding guns to weld steel, aluminum, copper, and other materials to required standards.
  • Inspect welds visually and re-weld defects; remove slag, flux, and spatter as needed.
  • Operate cutting torches and plasma cutters as needed.
  • Apply weld stencils and notify Lead person or Inspector when ready for inspection.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

As a Welder at our Oshkosh, Wisconsin location, you will be responsible for producing high-quality components that support our world-class electrical protection and connection solutions. We currently have openings on multiple shifts, including flexible first-shift schedules starting at 5:00 AM, 6:00 AM, or 7:00 AM, and a second shift beginning at 2:00 PM.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
  • Reference blueprints and collaborate with Lead person to determine job requirements, ensuring flawless execution.
  • Gather necessary materials and meticulously perform layout per specifications.
  • Set up welding machines and adjust settings for efficient performance.
  • Operate welding guns to weld steel, aluminum, copper, and other materials together, adhering to our strict quality standards.
  • Examine welds visually to ensure adherence to quality standards; re-weld defective joints and remove surplus slag, flux, and spatter using appropriate tools.
  • Operate cutting torches and manual plasma cutters as necessary.
  • Apply weld stencils and notify Lead person or Inspector when the product is ready for inspection.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area by performing ongoing housekeeping duties.
YOU HAVE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience;
  • Welding certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in welding, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Experience with fabrication and welding in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use a tape measure accurately.
  • Proficiency using fabrication and welding tools including cutting torches, plasma cutters and grinders.
  • Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.

Team members must be able to safely perform a range of physical activities, including standing and walking for extended periods, with frequent use of hands for tasks requiring dexterity and grip. Roles may require frequent bending, kneeling, and maintaining balance, with occasional climbing or repositioning to support production needs. This position is classified as medium work, requiring the ability to lift, carry, or move materials up to 50 lbs occasionally, 30 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs consistently. Employees must be able to effectively communicate, hear, and visually assess work to ensure quality, safety, and accuracy in a manufacturing environment. Work is performed in a manufacturing setting that may not be climate-controlled and can include exposure to varying temperatures.
