Job summary

nVent is seeking a skilled welder to join our manufacturing team in Houston. You will interpret blueprints, gather materials, and lay out accurate joints.

Set up welding equipment, adjust settings, and weld steel, aluminum, copper and more in multiple positions to meet specifications. You will inspect welds, repair defects, and operate cutting torches or plasma cutters as needed, while maintaining a clean, safe work area in a non-temperature-controlled environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year welding experience.
  • Able to read tape measures and blueprints.
  • Ability to operate welding equipment.
  • Skilled with cutting torches, brushes, pads, buffers, grinders, overhead cranes, and rubber hammers.
  • Able to work standing/walking for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Must wear PPE as required.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

Interpret blueprints and collaborate with the Lead person to confirm job requirements. Gather necessary materials and perform layout work according to specifications. Set up welding machines and adjust settings for various applications. Weld steel, aluminum, copper, and other materials in multiple positions and joint configurations. Inspect welds for quality, repairing defective joints as needed. Operate cutting torches and manual plasma cutters when required. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area by performing regular housekeeping duties.

YOU HAVE:

High School Diploma or GED At least one year of welding experience Able to read tape measures and blueprints Ability to properly operate welding equipment. Must be trained in applicable SOPs and work instructions Skilled in utilizing cutting torches, brushes, pads, buffers, grinders, overhead cranes, and rubber hammers Abilities to meet the physical and environmental demands: Standing /Walking for extended periods of time, Lift up to 50lbs., Work in a non-temperature-controlled environment. Wear the required PPE for the given position.
