Qualifications

Hourly Rate: $22.10 – $24.50

Shift: Monday – Thursday; 5a – 3:30p

How You Make An Impact

Under supervision, welds components together in a production environment.

The Details
  • Under guidance, positions material to be welded and applies hand–eye coordination to achieve the desired weld.
  • Make acceptable welds when shown procedures and locations.
  • Responsible for condition of weld fixture and dimensional accuracy of weldment.
  • Able to weld in flat and horizontal positions to specification.
  • Materials welded may include steel or other alloys, and the welding methods may include metal‑insertion gas and gas‑metal arc welding.
  • Notify lead or supervisor when weld fixture needs repair or adjustment.
  • All‑position welding may be required; the variety of applications requires an ability to plan, layout, and perform diversified work.
  • Includes high‑pressure and code welding or other work involving critical safety and load requirements or welding where appearance is critical.
  • Regulates heat and feed and may select electrodes and tips.
  • Works from specifications, drawings, prints, and welding symbols.
  • Looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
  • Meets productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Six months to one year of related experience or training such as technical welding training, certification, or on‑the‑job experience.
  • Required to pass a Welder I level internal weld test.
  • Follows safety rules and procedures and wears personal protective equipment.
  • Keeps weld curtains in place to protect others.
  • Keeps work area clean.
  • Completes responsibilities in a timely, professional, and quality manner.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly in technical and non‑technical terms. Can verbally communicate with co‑workers in all areas of the plant.
  • Can read and interpret safety rules, blueprints, general policies, instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Observes safety and security procedures and reports unsafe conditions when necessary.
  • Demonstrates ability and willingness to learn; seeks out development activities to improve skills and increase knowledge; learns from others and from own mistakes.
  • Cross‑trains and works in other departments as necessary.
Availability
  • Available to work on site as required by the job.
  • Available to work first‑shift hours.
  • Welders work a 40‑hour week, plus overtime as required to meet production schedules. Overtime is based on production demands.
