Job summary

A regional welding company is seeking Welders to perform standard maintenance and welding tasks under supervision. Candidates should be equipped with a High School diploma or GED, with vocational training preferred. Successful candidates will interpret blueprints, assemble pipes, and ensure quality welds, all while adhering to safety standards. Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Welders will provide standard maintenance as well as other responsibilities including welding as directed by Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES
  • Including but not limited to the list below.
  • Interpret plans, blueprints, and sketches of proposed structures in terms of the relevant specifications.
  • Ability to understand and perform tasks by verbal direction.
  • Inspect work sites to determine presence of obstructions and/or hazards.
  • Lay‑out, and assemble pipes accurately and according to production standards, quality requirements, safety requirements, code, design, and specifications.
  • Position the weld set up, fit the piping and perform welds.
  • Operating hand and power equipment including, grinders, saws, hammers, pliers, etc.
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings & weld symbols.
  • Ensure clean weld joints and defect free work.
  • Be familiar with standard welding concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established quality standards and safety procedures.
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing minor mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs.
  • Follow safety rules, regulations, guidelines, policies, and site‑specific safety plans when performing all activities.
  • Actively aware of surroundings near the equipment to maintain safe operation and distances from potential hazards such as underground utility lines, overhead utility lines, other equipment, and other workers.
  • Maintain the flow of work under minimal supervision.
  • Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored.
  • Assist Construction Laborers with labor duties.
  • Other light duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.
  • Those with an education and/or work‑related credential from a secondary or post‑secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge regarding the operation, safety, and maintenance of equipment being used.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment around utilities, field personnel, structures, property, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety, and quality standards, and effectively utilizing all tools and equipment relevant to the work.
  • Ability to detect unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Successfully pass and maintain an API 1104 Weld Certification per facility owner specification.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.
  • Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
  • Good hand‑eye coordination.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
