Job summary

Morgan Steel LLC in Memphis, TN is seeking a focused welder to set up and run welding production, reading job specs, adjusting machines, and maintaining a safe, clean workspace.

You will perform welds per customer drawings, verify parts with tape measures and gauges, and report issues to supervision. Applicants should be able to lift up to 50 lb, stand long hours, and operate forklift or overhead crane if needed.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in production/fabrication
• Must pass a tape measurement assessment test
• Must pass a knowledge based written test (Class II)
• Must pass a weld test (GMAW) Short Circuit and Spray transfers
• Must pass a basic fit/layout assessment per company drawings
• Basic Blueprint knowledge

Job description

This position sets up and runs welding production while maintaining the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, all while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret job specs to determine machine adjustments and weld times
• Check and verify parts meets specifications and quality tolerances
• Detect and report any defective product being produced or already produced.
• Communicate issues to supervisor (i.e.. equipment issues, maintenance needs)
• Use various inspecting techniques and tools; tape measures, calipers, protractors and weld gauges to check the conformance of produced parts
• Performs paperwork requirements and other duties as assigned and writes legibly
• Must keep a clean workstation, free of wood, bands, trash, and defective parts.
• Meet company production standards.
• Perform weldments per customer job specifications and D1.1/Familiarization on D9.1

Qualifications

• (Desired) 1 year experience in a production/ fabrication manufacturer
• Must pass a tape measurement assessment test
• Must pass a knowledge based written test (Class II)
• Must pass a weld test (GMAW) Short Circuit and Spray transfers
• Must pass a basic fit/layout assessment per company drawings
• Basic Blueprint knowledge
• Fabrication skills, including layout, cutting, grinding, and fitting
• Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with rapidly changing priorities.
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Ability to operate an overhead crane
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift 10/25/50 pounds regularly
• Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
• Must be punctual and have reliable attendance
