Job summary

Dalton Ag in America’s heartland is seeking a Welder to perform MIG welding of steel parts with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and timeliness in the welding area. You will follow blueprints, prepare components by grinding, and ensure weld quality meets specified symbols while maintaining productive workmanship.

Responsibilities include changing welding wire and gas tanks, performing first piece and ongoing inspections, and performing simple maintenance.

Qualifications

  • One year experience with MIG welding
  • Must pass basic MIG welding test
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to follow precise instructions
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, protractors, and tape measures

Responsibilities

  • MIG welding of steel parts per blueprints and weld symbols
  • Prepare products for welding by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, and cutting steel
  • Change welding wire and gas tanks as needed
  • Inspect welds for quality and accuracy
  • Enter data into ERP system (Epicor)
  • Cross-train as back-up in other manufacturing areas
  • Perform simple maintenance and repairs as required

Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • MIG welding including the following:
    • Create quality welds according to blueprints (weld symbols)
    • Inspect welds for accuracy & quality
    • Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, and cutting steel
    • Change welding wire as needed
    • Change gas tanks as needed
  • Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished products to the proper location
  • Ability to read measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, protractors, and tape measures
  • Ensure all equipment is properly set up and used in a safe manner with all safety devices in place
  • Perform first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required
  • Perform simple maintenance and repair as required
  • Will be required to cross-train as back-up in other areas of manufacturing plant
  • Accurately enter data into the ERP system, Epicor
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
