Job summary

NextDeavor in Fort Worth, TX seeks an experienced TIG welder to perform GTAW/TIG welding in an aerospace fabrication environment. You will read drawings, meet tight tolerances, and document work while maintaining a clean, FOD-free area.

Job description

You will perform precision TIG welding in an aerospace fabrication environment, producing and repairing critical components to engineering tolerances. You will work onsite, initially training on first shift for at least two months before transitioning to the 2nd shift (3:30 PM – 12:00 AM, Monday–Friday). You will collaborate with the manufacturing and quality teams and take direction from more experienced technicians during onboarding.

Here’s How You’ll Make an Impact on the Team
  • Perform a variety of approved welding techniques (GTAW/TIG) to required tolerances per engineering specifications
  • Read, interpret, and apply product/process drawings, weld symbols, and quality requirements
  • Make procedural adjustments to fine-tune processes and achieve product conformance
  • Document and log parts and maintain required paperwork accurately
  • Inspect and process all work performed to ensure quality
  • Maintain work area and equipment in an organized, clean, and FOD-free manner
  • Obtain and maintain required qualifications and certifications for materials such as stainless steels and Inconel
  • Support stanchion set-up and stanchion welding; perform basic set-up tasks
  • Identify opportunities for lean improvements and apply lean concepts in the work area
Here’s What You’ll Need to Be Successful in This Role
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of verifiable TIG (GTAW) welding experience, including work with stainless steel, Inconel, and titanium
  • Ability to fuse thin-gauge materials (standard thickness ~0.035 in) and work to tight tolerances
  • Ability to weld components from mechanical drawings, blueprints, and written specifications
  • Must obtain AWS D17.1 certification within 6 months of employment
  • Ability to pass vision exam standards (Near Vision: Jaeger 1 at 12 inches or greater; Far Vision: 20/25 or better; Color Perception: average/normal)
  • Ability to work in a team environment with limited guidance and follow safety procedures
  • Experience with repeated use of welding equipment and exposure to argon gas and high heat

  • Completion of a welding training program through vocational school or apprenticeship
  • Prior aerospace or precision fabrication experience
  • Familiarity with X-ray and fluorescent penetrant inspection processes
Pay Range

$21.40 - $26.75/hour
