Job summary

Texas Disposal Systems is seeking a Welder to perform welding tasks repairing and maintaining containers. Work may be performed on- and off-site in a safe manner, with opportunities to assist maintenance personnel as needed.

The role requires adherence to PPE standards and safety meetings. The Welder will help with weld repairs, asset fabrication, and basic metal design and repair, while documenting projects and tracking time per department procedures.

Qualifications

• Welding aptitude and ability to perform weld repairs.
• Must pass company welding test.
• Must be able to obtain welding certificates as needed.
• Familiarity with shop equipment such as drill press, cranes, grinders, and saws.

Responsibilities

• Report immediately any safety violations and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
• Properly maintain equipment, including service trucks and trailers, safety equipment, and tools.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Must pass a pulmonary function test if required by work assignment
• Passage of the company welding test
• Welding aptitude
• Must be able to obtain any welding certificates needed to perform certain tasks or projects;
• Familiarity with shop equipment i.e. drill press, cranes, grinders and saws;
• Must demonstrate an understanding of metal welding theory and practices.
• Must pass a pulmonary function and respirator fit tests

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• At least one year of maintenance welding experience including the use of arch, Mig, and stick welders, plasma cutter and acetylene equipment
• High school diploma or equivalent

REQURIED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

• Valid Class C driver’s license
• Safe driving for the last three years
• Forklift certification by company within 90 days of employment.
