Job summary

Texas Disposal Systems is seeking an experienced Welder to perform welding tasks, repair and maintain containers, and support maintenance staff. Work occurs on- and off-site in a safe manner, with opportunities to assist with field and shop fabrication.

The Welder will document repairs, request parts, and ensure adherence to safety policies. This role requires welding aptitude, certifications as needed, and the ability to pass company welding tests.

Qualifications

• Must pass a pulmonary function test if required by work assignment.
• Passage of the company welding test.
• Welding aptitude demonstrated.
• Must be able to obtain any welding certificates needed to perform certain tasks or projects.
• Familiarity with shop equipment (drill press, cranes, grinders, saws).
• Understanding of metal welding theory and practices.
• Must pass pulmonary function and respirator fit tests.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Welder performs welding tasks repairing and maintaining containers. Work is performed on- and off-site in a safe manner. The Welder will also assist maintenance personnel when required.

• Request parts and supplies for assigned jobs.
• Assist with field and shop maintenance weld repairs and fabrication.
• Comply with company safety policies.
• Attend monthly, mandatory safety meetings.
• Report immediately any safety violations and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
• Properly maintain equipment, including service trucks and trailers, safety equipment, and tools.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Must pass a pulmonary function test if required by work assignment
• Passage of the company welding test
• Welding aptitude
• Must be able to obtain any welding certificates needed to perform certain tasks or projects;
• Familiarity with shop equipment i.e. drill press, cranes, grinders and saws;
• Must demonstrate an understanding of metal welding theory and practices.
• Must pass a pulmonary function and respirator fit tests

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• At least one year of maintenance welding experience including the use of arch, Mig, and stick welders, plasma cutter and acetylene equipment
• High school diploma or equivalent

REQURIED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

• Valid Class C driver’s license
• Safe driving for the last three years
• Forklift certification by company within 90 days of employment.
