Job summary

Acuity is seeking a skilled welder to operate handheld welding equipment, read blueprints, and follow welding symbols to assemble aluminum parts. The role involves preparing, welding, grinding, and cleaning metal components to meet specifications, while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include ensuring parts meet tolerances, inspecting finished products, and keeping the work area organized.

Qualifications

  • Training and experience in GMAW/MIG and FCAW welding.
  • Ability to read weld symbols and follow blueprints.
  • Strong reading/listening skills for diverse instructions.
  • Basic mathematics related to welding tasks.
  • Capable of welding vertical, flat, and angled joints.
  • Good manual dexterity for precision work.
  • High School Diploma Equivalency / GED.

Responsibilities

  • Follows Acuity safety programs and requirements.
  • Adheres to production schedule.
  • Reads, assembles, and welds from blueprints.
  • Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces.
  • Monitors welding, burning, and fitting to avoid overheating or warpage.
  • Welds with GMAW/MIG and FCAW; setup details provided.
  • Welds daily in 1G, 2G, and 3G positions.
  • Uses wire and gas per spec, grinds and cleans surfaces for painting.
  • Inspects final products for quality assurance.
  • Tags final products for identification.
  • Maintains and cleans equipment and work area.
  • Notifies supervisor of faulty equipment or materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Welds/fabricates and assembles aluminum pieces and products using handheld welding equipment. Sets up parts for welding; uses hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures. Works from specifications, drawings, and welding symbols. Prepares and completes work on materials by welding, cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Follows all Acuity safety programs and requirements.
  • Adheres to production schedule.
  • Reads, assembles, and welds from blueprints.
  • Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
  • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
  • GMAW/MIG Spray Transfer welding; settings up to 250 Amp, 32 Volt, 400 IPM wire speed.
  • 1G, 2G and 3G welding daily.
  • Uses .045 - .052 metal core wire using 90/10 gas.
  • Grinds and wire wheels product to clean smooth surfaces for painting.
  • Inspects final products to ensure quality assurance.
  • Tags all final products for identification.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
  • Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills And Minimum Experience Required
  • Training and experience in GMAW/MIG and FCAW welding.
  • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding.
  • Ability to read weld symbols and follow blueprints.
  • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics related to welding assignments.
  • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, and angled.
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • High School Diploma Equivalency / GED.
Preferred Skills And Experience
  • Ability to safely use and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work standing up to 10 hours per day.
