Job summary

Motion is seeking a skilled Welder to join our fabrication team. Under supervision, you will use arc and gas welding, flame cutting, and preparation of metal components for assembly and repair.

You will read sketches and prints, set up equipment, maintain welding specifications, and contribute to a variety of fabrication projects. Pay ranges from $24.56 to $31.95 per hour, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Technical degree and 1–4 years related experience.
• Able to operate welding equipment and cutting tools.
• Ability to read blueprints and sketches.

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Welder uses hand welding and flame cutting equipment such as arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches to weld together metal components (flat, horizontal, or vertical plates and pipes). The Welder is responsible for assisting with the entire sequence of cutting and welding operations for a wide variety of repair and fabrication work. The Welder aligns and welds components of metal tools, wires, fixtures and other metal products.

JOB DUTIES

• Works from sketches, prints, operation sheets, preliminary drawings, and written/verbal instructions.
• Maintains welding specifications.
• Sets up and operates all welding equipment.
• May utilize different types of welding systems for different tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Typically requires a technical degree and one (1) to four (4) years of related experience or an equivalent combination.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

• Knowledge of Chemistry and Metallurgy.
• Understanding of Electricity.
• Knowledge of basic computer programming.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to Read Blueprints.
