Job description

Position Summary: The welder’s main responsibility is to join, fabricate, and repair metal, including but not limited to carbon, stainless steel, and aluminum, by applying appropriate welding techniques and maintaining Freedman Seating quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Abide by OSHA and FSC safety rules and regulations.
  • Wear appropriate protective gear in environments containing dust, odors, and noise.
  • Work effectively under pressure.
  • Read blueprints and/or job procedures to determine the appropriate welding process.
  • Weld with minimal quality issues.
  • Measure weldments using quality control equipment.
  • Perform basic fit-up operations in preparation for welding, on stock, standard products, prototypes, with or without fixtures.
  • Meet minimum production requirements.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure structural soundness.
  • Act as a leader to direct and train others within the department.
  • Provide hands-on welding tests to potential new hires, including beginner/intermediate welders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Stand for long periods and walk frequently.
  • Frequently lift and/or move objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Cover other shifts/overtime as necessary.
  • Bend and squat frequently.
  • Stand for 8 hours or more daily.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least five years of experience and/or relevant education.
  • Experience with MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding of carbon, stainless, and aluminum steels.
  • Ability to interpret welding blueprints and call-outs.
  • Proficiency in English reading skills.
  • Strong math and measurement skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Pay Rate: $18.60 – $27 per hour

Freedman Seating determines pay based on various factors, including but not limited to education, skills, experience, and other legally permitted factors. The final pay may vary from the posted range.
