Safely perform metal working activities including but not limited to job layout, welding, cutting, fabricating, grinding, and painting in structural and non-structural applications.
Starting Shift: 4am-2pm M-F. OT after 40hrs
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate specified welding equipment to fabricate and perform repairs on new and used solid waste handling equipment.
- Repair and prep equipment for painting, including painting assigned equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed.
- Maintain inventory of supplies.
- Keep work areas clean, including shop, job site, and vehicles.
- Assist other shop employees with repairs and duties.
- Inspect and maintain hand tools and equipment, reporting repairs needed.
- Ensure quality, safety, and efficiency in all repairs.
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and directives.
- Attend safety and branch meetings.
- Provide basic personal tools such as welding shields and hand wrenches.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Certification in basic welding skills or two years experience in welding/fabricating.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
- Ability to meet safety-sensitive function criteria per company standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to maintain focus and attention.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, lifting, and working in loud conditions.
- Visual acuity including color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Lift and move weights up to 100 pounds as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to loud noise, chemicals, and varying weather conditions.
- Occasional work at heights and in confined spaces.
