Job description

Join to apply for the Welder role at GFL Environmental Inc.

Safely perform metal working activities including but not limited to job layout, welding, cutting, fabricating, grinding, and painting in structural and non-structural applications.

Starting Shift: 4am-2pm M-F. OT after 40hrs

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operate specified welding equipment to fabricate and perform repairs on new and used solid waste handling equipment.
2. Repair and prep equipment for painting, including painting assigned equipment.
3. Maintain accurate records of services performed.
4. Maintain inventory of supplies.
5. Keep work areas clean, including shop, job site, and vehicles.
6. Assist other shop employees with repairs and duties.
7. Inspect and maintain hand tools and equipment, reporting repairs needed.
8. Ensure quality, safety, and efficiency in all repairs.
9. Comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and directives.
10. Attend safety and branch meetings.
11. Provide basic personal tools such as welding shields and hand wrenches.
12. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

1. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
2. Certification in basic welding skills or two years experience in welding/fabricating.
3. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
4. Ability to meet safety-sensitive function criteria per company standards.

1. Ability to maintain focus and attention.

3. Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Physical and Mental Demands:

1. Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, lifting, and working in loud conditions.
2. Visual acuity including color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
3. Lift and move weights up to 100 pounds as needed.

Working Conditions:

1. Exposure to loud noise, chemicals, and varying weather conditions.
2. Occasional work at heights and in confined spaces.
