Job summary

Red Dot Buildings in Athens, TX is seeking an experienced Welder who takes pride in producing strong, clean, and accurate welds for structural steel components. You will follow welding procedures, read weld maps, and work to Red Dot’s quality standards.

You will weld clips, connection plates, and other metal parts per shop requirements and Welding Procedure Specifications, inspecting fit-up and arranging to move components safely.

Qualifications

• Experience welding in a manufacturing, fabrication, or structural steel environment.
• Ability to produce accurate, consistent welds of high quality.
• Experience reading weld maps, fabrication drawings, or work instructions.
• Familiarity with weld symbols and Welding Procedure Specifications.
• Knowledge of joint preparation and fit-up requirements.
• Experience setting up and adjusting welding equipment.
• Familiarity with AWS D1.1 or D1.3 is preferred.
• Overhead-crane and material-rigging experience is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Safety-first mindset and dependable attendance.

Are you an experienced Welder who takes pride in producing strong, clean, and accurate welds? Red Dot Buildings is looking for a skilled, dependable professional who follows established welding procedures, maintains high quality standards, and works safely in a structural steel fabrication environment.

This is more than a standard production welding position. You will weld clips, connection plates, and other structural steel components according to weld maps, shop requirements, and Welding Procedure Specifications. Your craftsmanship will help ensure every component meets Red Dot’s quality standards and performs properly when the building reaches the jobsite.

What You Will Do

• Weld clips, connection plates, and other components onto structural steel members.
• Perform welds in accordance with applicable specifications, including AWS D1.1 and D1.3.
• Follow weld maps and Welding Procedure Specifications to ensure correct weld size, type, location, and sequence.
• Inspect component fit-up before welding and identify alignment or preparation concerns.
• Set up and calibrate welding equipment for the assigned work.
• Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and compliance with established standards.
• Clean beams and remove weld spatter after welding to prepare components for the paint shop.
• Safely operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment.
• Use proper rigging practices when positioning and moving materials.
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of work procedures and quality requirements for the assigned area.
• Identify and communicate concerns involving materials, fit-up, weld maps, or equipment.
• Maintain an organized work area and properly care for tools and equipment.
• Follow all required safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Complete special assignments and other duties as needed.

What You Bring

• Welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or structural steel environment.
• The ability to produce accurate, consistent, and high-quality welds.

• Familiarity with weld symbols and Welding Procedure Specifications.
