Job summary

Wastequip seeks an experienced welder skilled in MIG welding to assemble components, parts, and structures per prints and jigs. This role requires the ability to read simple instructions and measure using a tape. You will weld in a fast-paced production environment and ensure quality and safety throughput.

Experience with MIG welding, ability to pass EHS requirements, and physical stamina to lift up to 90 lbs are required or preferred as noted in the job description.

Qualifications

  • MIG welding experience is required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic math, tape measure reading preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Position parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.
  • Lays out, positions, and tack welds work pieces.
  • MIG Welds along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines.
  • Connects regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch, lights torch and adjusts gas for proper flame.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Scarfs or grooves welds and parts.
  • Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
  • Completes tasks per production schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Job Summary

The welder position will have expertise in MIG Welding techniques, by focusing on the assembly of components, parts, and structures as specified by prints, layouts and/or jigs and fixtures.

Hourly Rate

Hourly Rate: $26.50 - $28.88 (Based on experience)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.
  • Lays out, positions, and tack welds work pieces.
  • MIG Welds along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines.
  • Connects regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch. Turns regulator valves to activate flow of gases, lights torch and adjusts gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame. Holds & guides torch at proper angle to cut metal.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Scarfs or grooves welds and parts.
  • Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
  • Completes tasks while adhering to production schedules
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • MIG Welding experience is required
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic math, tape measure reading preferred
  • Experience in a fast-paced production environment preferred
  • Ability to pass all EHS requirements
Physical and Work Environment Requirements

The employee must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Employee must regularly stand, walk, reach, and stoop
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 lbs.
  • Employee must be able to have distance, up close, and peripheral vision and depth perception
  • Position has frequent exposure to heat, noise, vibration, smoke, dust, fumes, dirt, grease and oil.
  • Employees may be occasionally in a cramped or confined space depending on the welding line.
