Summary

The primary responsibilities of the Weld / Mechanical / Polymer Testing Team Leads are to assist the Department Manager and Supervisor. The Materials Testing Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of materials testing activities within Weld, Mechanical, or Testing. This role involves overseeing a team of materials testing professionals, ensuring the accurate and timely execution of tests, analyzing results, and providing guidance on quality assurance. The Materials Testing Team Lead plays a crucial role in maintaining product quality, supporting research/cost studies and development efforts, and ensuring compliance with ATS and client standards and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead a team of materials testing technicians, engineers, or scientists.
  • Provide direction, mentorship, and training to team members, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Assign tasks, set goals, and monitor performance to ensure objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand testing requirements for various projects and products.
  • Develop testing plans, including selecting appropriate methodologies, equipment, and testing parameters.
  • Oversee the execution of various materials tests, such as mechanical, thermal, chemical, and onsite witness tests.
  • Ensure that materials testing procedures are conducted with accuracy, precision, and adherence to established standards.
  • Review and analyze test data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential issues.
  • Make recommendations for process improvements based on test results to enhance product quality and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols in all testing activities.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of testing procedures, results, and methodologies.
  • Generate comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing test findings for stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency enhancements, and cost reduction in materials testing operations.
  • Implement best practices to streamline workflows and improve the overall effectiveness of the team.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five years of in lab and lead experience.
Necessary Skills:
  • Proven experience in materials testing, quality control, or related roles.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of various materials testing techniques and equipment.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations relevant to materials testing.
