Job summary

Big Tex Trailers in Texas seeks an experienced Weld Auditor to verify weld lines and support quality across the production floor. You will audit structural and A surface welds, document issues, and coach welders to improve performance.

Daily collaboration with QC inspectors and plant managers is required to resolve finish problems. A manufacturing background with welding familiarity is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years welding experience is implied by the scope of audits.
• Experience in quality control and manufacturing environments is preferred.
• Destructive testing experience is mentioned as a preference.

Responsibilities

• Audit structural and A surface welds 2x per day, every weld line.
• Correct and coach welders and leads as needed.
• Document non-conforming welds into a daily audit report for Quality, Production and Plant managers.
• Communicate with QC inspectors to resolve weld issues in finish.
• Review and verify prints/weld maps and assist in creating Standard Work on weld lines.

• Troubleshoot welding equipment issues.


• Knowledge of welder power supply.


• Check consumables are installed correctly


• Verify there are no bare grounds or damaged leads and guns

Other

• Review and verify prints/weld maps.


• Help create Standard Work on weld lines


• Must be familiar with a manufacturing environment


• Audit Weld PPE


• Audit Proper Body and Hand Placement


• Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years welding experience


• Management experience preferred


• Valid welding certifications preferred
