Job summary

AprilAire is seeking a dedicated welder to join the production team. You will weld according to electronic drawings and JOLs, inspect finished parts, and perform deburring tasks on stainless and mild steel components.

The role emphasizes productivity, quality, and adherence to ISO 9001-2015 policies. The ideal candidate will have a two-year welder trade program and at least two years of related experience, with the ability to read weld prints and operate deburring equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass written and visual welding capabilities tests.
• Ability to read weld prints and translate drawings into welded parts.
• Proficient in TIG welding of stainless steel in a repetitive production setting.
• Proficient in MIG welding of mild steel.
• Adhere to ISO 9001-2015 policies and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Weld and inspect products from electronic drawings and JOLs to target productivity and quality.
• Deburr parts using sander or debur machine.
• Perform TIG welds on stainless steel and MIG welds on mild material.
• Weld all products within assigned Cell and perform daily cycle count.
• Maintain clean and safe work area and report safety concerns to supervisor.

Job description

Perform welding by using a dispatch list for sequence of orders. Inspect welds by working off drawings, verbal instructions and other specifications for maximum productivity, cost effectiveness, and quality with minimum supervision.

Welding

• Work from electronic drawings and electronic JOLs to weld and inspect product.
• Debur parts using sander or debur machine.
• TIG weld stainless steel material of a somewhat repetitive nature to meet production and quality standards.
• MIG weld mild material.
• Weld all products within assigned Cell.
• Perform daily cycle count.

General Responsibilities

• Strive for product and process improvements that meet or exceed our customer requirements as well as being compliant with ISO 9001-2015 policies.
• Support Lean activities including Kaizen Events and 5S.
• Keep supervisor and Cell Lead informed of job-related problems and other information related to work activity including the Kaizen Newspaper.
• Maintain positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers, and management. Respectful and supportive interaction with others is expected.
• Ensure work area is maintained in a neat and orderly condition.
• Ensure all processes are safe for employees, ergonomically correct and comply with OSHA requirements.
• Report all safety concerns to their Lead, Supervisor or Safety Committee Member.
• Operate computer, tablet, and other electronic devices.
• Lift, push, and pull moderate weights.
• Perform related work as apparent or assigned.

Experience

• High school education or equivalent.
• Completion of two-year (18 month) welder trade program.
• Two years related experience.
• Must be able to pass written and visually demonstrate welding capabilities.
• Ability to read weld prints.
• Basic computer knowledge such as ability to operate a computer, tablet, and any other form of electronic software.
