Job summary

Komatsu is seeking an experienced welding supervisor for our Mesa, AZ area shop. The role oversees a shop crew, manages labor, parts, and scheduling, and directly quotes welding work to customers.

Collaboration with management and accounting ensures revenue integrity and profitability while maintaining high-quality workmanship on mining equipment. The candidate should possess a very skilled welding background with blueprint and MOPs literacy, leadership training, and strong OSHA/DOT knowledge to

Qualifications

  • Certified welder able to read blueprints, MOPs, and follow a defined scope of work.
  • 5+ years welding experience on mining equipment with understanding of structure designs and wear packages.
  • Leadership and supervisor training.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to manage profitability and material/labor utilization.

Job Overview
Key Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise shop crew from scheduling labor/parts to disciplinary issues.
  • Develop work scopes, time frames, parts, consumable and labor scheduling.
  • Quote and bill all shop welding work directly to the customer.
  • Work closely with manager and accounting to maintain revenue income.
  • Work closely with customer to meet their needs.
  • Ensure maintenance of welding equipment.
  • Evaluate each and every completed job to ensure quality and full work scope completion.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Very skilled certified welder that can understand and read blueprints, MOPs and follow a scope of work.
  • Minimum 5 years welding experience on vast range of mining equipment with a very good understanding of structure designs and wear package applications. This experience is vital because many shop repairs do not have an associated MOP.
  • Leadership and supervisor training.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Must be able to maintain customer relations.
  • Must be able to understand the dollars side of the business to ensure profitability and utilization.
  • Must be very organized to keep up with the labor force, man hours, consumables, parts, safety/DOT training and maintenance of all equipment.
