Job summary

Komatsu Mining Corp. is seeking a skilled welder to certify in all-position MIG welding and operate a broad range of weld craft equipment. You will read blueprints, interpret sketches, and apply welding knowledge to repair and assemble components.

You will cut, plasma cut, grind, and weld parts, inspect quality, and maintain safety and housekeeping standards across shifts. Ongoing training and ISO familiarity are expected.

Qualifications

  • Must certify in all position mig welding as outlined in ISO 9001 welding qualification.
  • Must have basic understanding of metal properties and be able to set up and operate welding craft equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, customer provided sketches and drawings and apply this knowledge to the product.
  • Two years experience in fabrication welding
  • Have basic tools or be willing to purchase
  • Able to work any shift
  • Able to work overtime
  • Safety training (Haz-Com, Lock Out / Tag Out, PPE, MSDS, Housekeeping, Lifting, Electrical)
  • Familiar with ISO and related welding processes
  • Certified welder

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints to determine necessary repairs to be made.
  • Cut material from stock.
  • Use cutting torch or hand plasma to remove defective parts from main assembly.
  • Examine work piece to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Use grinder to clean welds.
  • Position and align parts utilizing hand tools.
  • Welds parts utilizing a variety of welding processes per drawing or print.
  • Inspects work to ensure specifications and dimensions are correct.
  • Assemble final products and assist with the compatibility process.
  • Obey all safety rules and perform housekeeping assignments.
  • Record labor and verify quality with proper documents.

Job Overview

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Must certify in all position mig welding as outlined in ISO 9001 welding qualification. Must have a basic understanding of metal properties and be able to set up and efficiently operate a wide range of welding craft equipment. Interpret blueprints, customer provided sketches and drawings and apply this knowledge to the product.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Welding machines (both mig and stick), hand plasma, cutting torch, hand grinders, hoists, tow motor, bore tech, burn table, bending press, ironworker, saw and drillpress.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints to determine necessary repairs to be made. Uses necessary equipment to affect repairs.
  • Cuts material from stock.
  • Uses cutting torch or hand plasma to remove defective parts from main assembly.
  • Examines work piece to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Uses grinder to clean welds.
  • When required, uses tow motor or hoist to move or position work piece.
  • Plans layout of weldments based on prints, sketches, etc.
  • Positions and aligns parts utilizing hand tools, etc.
  • Welds parts utilizing a variety of welding processes per drawing or print.
  • Inspects work to ensure specifications and dimensions are correct.
  • Assembles final products and assists with the compatibility process.
  • Obeys all safety rules and performs housekeeping assignments.
  • Records labor and verifies quality with proper documents.
