Job description

Weld Engineer - Sign-on Bonus and Relocation Bonus available for selected candidates!

We are seeking a Weld Engineer to join our EMD team!

This role involves determining appropriate welding techniques and procedures for various applications, generating weld procedure and welder qualification records, and participating in meetings to support engineering, manufacturing, and program management. The engineer will work in a manufacturing environment utilizing arc welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW, PTAW) to produce x-ray quality structural and seal welds, with a working knowledge of welding metallurgy and the ability to interpret material specifications.

Your Responsibilities:
  1. Identify, evaluate, and resolve non-routine welding engineering problems related to manufacturing and repair.
  2. Proactively address new welding challenges, assessing and managing risks.
  3. Communicate technical concepts effectively across all levels of the organization.
  4. Support and guide skilled labor and Weld Development Lab Technicians.
  5. Plan and support procedure and personnel qualifications per applicable codes and contracts.
  6. Identify and implement improved welding processes and techniques.
  7. Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineering to resolve joining issues and support suppliers and customers.
  8. Review supplier qualifications and procedures, and support audits.
  9. Develop and manage work plans including schedules, budgets, and resources.
  10. Mentor engineers and assist in training less experienced personnel.
Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Metallurgy, or Materials Science; M.S. preferred.
  • 6+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of arc welding processes and codes (ASME, AWS, NAVSEA).
  • Experience with various metals and dissimilar metal welding.
  • Prior experience as a welding, materials, or manufacturing engineer.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Team player, innovative, committed to quality and customer service.
  • US citizen and able to obtain DOD security clearance.
