Job summary

XPO is seeking a Weights & Research Inspector in New York to review inspection reports, verify BOL descriptions, and gather shipment data on the dock using handheld devices. You will research NMFC classifications and issue corrections to ensure accurate revenue recovery.

Responsibilities

• Review inspection reports to identify potential issues.
• Conduct inspections of shipments on the dock utilizing handheld devices.
• Review BOL and billing descriptions to verify accuracy.
• Gather information related to the shipment, including dimensions, pictures, and commodity characteristics.
• Research commodity information using the NMFC for applicable description and class.
• Issue document corrections based on the NMFC provisions.
• Upload documents/pictures into the image system for review.
• Maintain the reports necessary to measure corrections activity and revenue recovery.

• Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry knowledge and experience

• Expected pay range: $25.19 to $28.98per hour. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set.

What you’ll do on a typical day

• Review inspection reports to identify potential issues
• Conduct inspections of shipments on the dock utilizing handheld devices
• Review BOL and billing descriptions to verify accuracy
• Gather information related to the shipment, including dimensions, pictures, and commodity characteristics
• Research commodity information using the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) for applicable description and class
• Issue document corrections based on the applicable provisions from the NMFC
• Upload documents/pictures into the image system for review
• Maintain the reports necessary to measure corrections activity and revenue recovery

Weights & Research Inspectors are required to

• Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 75 lbs.
• Stand, sit or walk for extended periods
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
