Purpose

The Weight Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming fitness environment for all staff. This position monitors room activity, promotes safe equipment use, and maintains fitness equipment and facilities are maintained according to established standards.

Facility Monitoring & Safety
  • Monitor weight room activities to ensure compliance with facility rules and policies.
  • Promote a safe workout environment by observing staff.
  • Report hazards, equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or accidents to supervisory staff promptly.
Cleaning & Maintenance
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the weight room and fitness areas.
  • Clean and sanitize fitness equipment, free weights, benches, mats, etc.
  • Return weights, dumbbells, and equipment to designated locations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report maintenance needs.
  • Ensure walkways, workout areas, and emergency exits remain clear and accessible.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in fitness, recreation, customer service, or facility operations preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of fitness equipment and weight room operations.
Salary Range

$20.00 an hour

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment, weights, and supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform routine cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and safety situations.
Work Shift

Monday - Friday 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Up to 19 hours a week.
