Office of Naval Research in Washington, DC seeks a skilled technician to inspect, test, and repair Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) used for lifting and moving materials.
You will lead load tests, document repairs, and coordinate with local crane engineers and the Navy Crane Center (NCC) to ensure alterations and modifications meet applicable standards. This role requires diligence in safety, quality, and compliance across field sites.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
Your resume must demonstrate the following: I have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including 1) Performing operational tests for inspections to evaluate proper equipment operation; 2) Directing the activities of crane inspectors, equipment mechanics, crane operators, and riggers; 3) Inspecting, repairing, and examining major mechanical units and component parts such as gearboxes, brake systems, bearings, external gears, shafts, wire ropes, load chains, hydraulic cylinders, and other mechanical integral units of WHE for proper operation; and 4) Evaluating equipment designs, alterations, and modifications
