Job summary

Recology Western Oregon – VRZ in McMinnville, OR seeks a Weighmaster to manage truck scale operations, record weights, and perform related data entry and office tasks. The role involves direct customer interaction, fee calculation, and ensuring loads meet acceptance standards.

A High School Diploma or GED and some public-contact experience are preferred. Typical shifts are Wednesday through Saturday with seasonal hour adjustments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of related office or public contact experience.
• For positions operating loaders or small equipment, experience with operation/maintenance of similar equipment.
• Commercial driver's license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs trucks to scale and records full and empty weights.
• Calculates and collects fees and records charges.
• Compiles record of inbound and outbound material weights by category.
• Performs data entry of commodities and records material weights.
• Inspects and ensures validity of loads.
• Monitors truck radio and responds to emergencies or problems.
• Performs varied office tasks as needed.
• May calculate payment to customers for recycled materials.
• Ensures accepted materials meet stated standards for hazardous waste (where applicable).
• Other duties as assigned

Role of Weighmaster

Shift: Wednesday - Saturday 6:00am to 4:30pm For the Winter hours 6:45am to 5:45pm For Summer Hours

Under general supervision, provides recordkeeping, basic customer service and administrative support at truck scales and in office.

Essential Responsibilities

• Directs trucks to scale and records full and empty weights.
• Calculates and collects fees and records charges.
• Compiles record of inbound and outbound material weights by category (such as recyclables).
• Performs data entry of types of commodities (e.g., green waste, recycled) on loads brought in by trucks; records material weights by category.
• Inspects and ensures validity of loads.
• Monitors truck radio; responds in case of emergency or problem.
• Performs varied office tasks as needed.
• May be required to calculate payment to customers for recycled materials.
• For sites that accept hazardous waste materials:
• Ensures that all materials being accepted are appropriate given stated standards.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
