Job summary

Burlingame Family Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant for a weekend-only position with shifts on Saturday and/or Sunday. The role supports exams, surgeries, dentistry, and outpatient care at our Woodside partner facility, with a transition plan to a Burlingame-area location.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of veterinary experience, strong animal-handling skills, anesthesia monitoring, dental radiography, and excellent client communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant role preferred.
• Proficiency in safe, low-stress animal handling, anesthesia monitoring, dental radiography, and client communication.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and maintain accurate medical records.

Responsibilities

• Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgeries, and dentistry
• Providing safe patient handling and restraint during outpatient care
• Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments
• Monitoring anesthesia and supporting recovery as directed
• Performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
• Maintaining medical records and documentation
• Reviewing plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients
• Building positive client relationships through education and service
