Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital in North Carolina seeks a Unit Coordinator to support RN‑led care. You will monitor patient charts, operate communication systems, and assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes. The role requires a High School diploma, CPR certification, and basic computer skills.

If you have completed a unit coordinator course, that’s preferred. You will also help stock supplies and serve as a preceptor for new staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of an approved unit coordinator or clerk course, preferred.
• CPR certification (BLS-Health Care Provider) required.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and maintains patient charts and medical records.
• Operates communication systems including telephone, paging system, and pneumatic tube.
• Assists with admission, registration, transfer, and discharge of patients.
• Maintains unit and office supplies and stocking; ensures regulatory standards.
• Acts as a preceptor for orientation and training of other Unit Coordinator staff.
• Coordinates transport of medications from Pharmacy to practitioners or to secure storage.
• Initiates Code Blue/Medical Assist/ACT in emergencies and communicates information to staff.
