Job summary

Mayville Engineering Company, Inc. in Wisconsin is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead daily manufacturing operations, schedule direct labor, and ensure quality and on-time delivery.

You will train staff, manage staffing levels, drive process improvements, and uphold safety and PPE standards in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include directing work, hiring and coaching employees, maintaining schedule adherence, and ensuring compliance with process documentation.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment, procedures, and production/quality standards.
  • Ability to read, interpret and explain blueprints and specifications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for a diverse team.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methods and cost reduction ideas.
  • Proficiency with office productivity software and business systems.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules direct labor on daily activities to meet production and quality targets.
  • Trains employees and maintains training records.
  • Ensures compliance with process documentation and safety standards.
  • Manages staffing levels and schedule adherence across shifts.
  • Leads a high-performing team through hiring, directing work, and performance reviews.
  • Maintains product quality and oversees inventory and reorders.
  • Proposes process improvements and communicates issues to management.
  • Upholds PPE usage and housekeeping requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Job Responsibilities


  • Schedules all direct labor personnel on daily work activities ensuring optimal utilization of skills and man hours to meet timely production and quality standards.

  • Trains employees and completes training records.

  • Ensures employees are complying with manufacturing process documentation.

  • Maintains schedule adherence and works with management on proper staffing levels to meet schedules.

  • Leads high-performing team: interviewing, hiring, training, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Maintains proper quality standards on all products being produced on shift.

  • Distributes supplies, takes inventory, and initiates reorder as needed.

  • Advises operations management of process improvement ideas, production issues, maintenance items, safety matters, and other information.

  • Follows acceptable employee relation practices and company policies.

  • Ensures employees maintain and practice proper safety requirements including good housekeeping and wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • All other duties assigned.


Job Skills Requirements


  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment, procedures, and production/quality standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple internal departments to ensure delivery of quality product on time.

  • May require in-depth ability to read, interpret and explain blueprints, engineering drawings, job orders and specifications based on location.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with and motivate a diverse group of employees.

  • Advanced ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of personnel and production problems.

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with office productivity software and business control software.

  • Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced production environment, often under time constraints.


Educational Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree preferred.


Experience Requirements


  • Minimum of three years of experience in a manufacturing environment including managing personnel in a production environment.

  • Experience with continuous improvement methods and teams, or cost reduction initiatives showing tangible results.
