Job summary

Mayville Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead direct labor teams in a fast-paced manufacturing facility in Michigan. You will schedule, train, and develop staff, ensure adherence to process documentation, and drive on-time production with quality standards.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, plus experience with continuous improvement and cross-department collaboration in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, interpret and explain blueprints, engineering drawings, job orders and specifications.

• Advanced ability to solve practical problems and deal with various personnel and production problems.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with office productivity software and business control software.
• Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced production environment, often under time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Schedules all direct labor personnel on daily work activities to meet production and quality standards.
• Trains employees and completes training records.
• Ensures employees comply with manufacturing process documentation.
• Maintains schedule adherence and staffing levels to meet schedules.
• Leads a high-performing team: interviewing, hiring, training, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Maintains quality standards on all products produced on shift.
• Distributes supplies, takes inventory, and initiates reorder as needed.
• Advises management on process improvements, production issues, maintenance items, safety matters, and other information.
• Follows employee relations practices and company policies.
• Ensures employees maintain safety requirements including PPE and housekeeping.
• All other duties assigned.

2. Trains employees and completes training records.
3. Ensures employees are complying with manufacturing process documentation.
4. Maintains schedule adherence and works with management on proper staffing levels to meet schedules.
5. Leads high-performing team: interviewing, hiring, training, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
6. Maintains proper quality standards on all products being produced on shift.
7. Distributes supplies, takes inventory, and initiates reorder as needed.
8. Advises operations management of process improvement ideas, production issues, maintenance items, safety matters, and other information.
9. Follows acceptable employee relation practices and company policies.
10. Ensures employees maintain and practice proper safety requirements including good housekeeping and wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
11. All other duties assigned.

Educational Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree preferred.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of three years of experience in a manufacturing environment including managing personnel in a production environment.
• Experience with continuous improvement methods and teams, or cost reduction initiatives showing tangible results.
