Job summary

The Wenger Group is seeking a Mill Technician I in Mount Joy, PA to support milling and grain testing operations. You will add feed ingredients by hand, monitor inventory, and keep the mill area clean and safe while following all food safety regulations.

You will gain exposure to animal nutrition concepts and operate core production equipment, with opportunities for training and advancement in a growing agricultural business.

Responsibilities

  • Operate milling equipment and perform grain testing.
  • Conduct manual addition of feed ingredients and record usage.
  • Maintain inventory, cleaning, and housekeeping of the mill area.
  • Understand and follow FSMA, SQF, and state regulations.
  • Navigate systems like Laserfiche and Wenger systems for records.

What your day looks like:

The Mill Technician I is an integral and important part of a team and is responsible for grain testing and the manual addition of feed ingredients in accordance with operating procedures. In addition, they will be introduced to inventory management, maintenance, repair, and operation of production-related equipment as well as housekeeping activities. Mill technicians are responsible for compliance with all company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations. May be responsible for all or part of the following duties and responsibilities to be determined by the Mill Manager, Mill Supervisor, Mill Shift Supervisor:

  • Milling Operations
  • Grain tester - DON testing; dockage; moisture, bushel weight and foreign material; auto and manual truck probing
  • Perform the function of "hand-adds," the manual addition of feed ingredients and accurately recording medication and vitamin usage.
  • Develop a basic level of understanding in animal nutrition and how ingredients interact with milling and grinding processes.
  • Clean and perform routine housekeeping of the mill.
  • Understands general mechanical duties typically needed.
  • Navigate, use, and understand Laserfiche, The Wenger System and WEM as appropriate.
  • Ingredient and Inventory Management.
  • Maintain bag inventories, stacked and orderly.
  • Administrative and Other.
  • Complete required training in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties determined by the Mill Manager, Mill Supervisor or Mill Shift Supervisor.
