Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Part-Time Lactation Consultant Registered Nurse at Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY. The RN Lactation Consultant will provide expert breastfeeding education, assessment, and support to expectant and new parents in the Family Birth Place.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a lactation consultant required.
• Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing.
• Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Program Development. Inform about the nutritional and physiological benefits of human milk; assist with decision making; provide anticipatory guidance concerning common problems associated with breastfeeding; describe and encourage good infant rooting, latching and suck-swallow pattern; discuss dietary requirements, medications or other substances which may have an effect on breastfeeding
• Individualized Care. Provide individualized assistance to mothers with an identified lactation problem
• Leadership & Collaboration. Collaborate with other health workers in maintaining frequent and regular communication with the breastfeeding dyad; assist with staff education including all aspects of lactation management and clinical issues
