Job summary

Maple Heights Behavioral Health in Fort Wayne, IN seeks a part-time Registered Nurse to support weekend/weekender shifts in an inpatient behavioral health setting. The role requires an RN license, CPR, and may include de-escalation/restraint certifications with training provided.

Expect responsibilities such as patient assessment, care plan development, charting, education for patients and families, and collaboration with physicians and staff.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Must possess a current RN license as required by state of employment.
• One year of nursing experience; prior psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance abuse nursing experience a plus.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
• Provide nursing care within the standards and scope of nursing practice per state regulations and facility policies.
• Ensure physicians’ orders are transcribed accurately and that patient status is monitored and documented.
• Notify physicians of significant changes in status and clinical concerns.
• Complete admission and discharge processing accurately as directed.
• Maintain therapeutic rapport with patients and uphold professional boundaries.
• Coordinate unit activities and communicate with patients, visitors, and staff.
