Job summary

Good Shepherd Community Care is seeking a Weekend Nurse to join the On-Call team in Newton, MA. The RN/LPN will travel to patients' homes and facilities across Greater Boston to provide end-of-life care and symptom management.

This 36-hour weekend role includes a $5,000 sign-on and a competitive salary. Qualifications include MA RN or LPN license, 2 years of nursing with hospice experience, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Details: Job Location: Main Office - Newton, MA 02459, Salary Range: $84,000.00 - $104,000.00 Salary/year, RN Weekend (36 hrs, Sat, Sun, Mon) - $5000 sign-on bonus eligible.

Named by the Boston Globe as one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts for the last three years, our community-based, mission-driven hospice and palliative care organization seeks a Weekend Nurse to join its expanding On-Call team. Travel to provide care in patients' private homes and residential facilities throughout Greater Boston and parts of MetroWest. The ideal candidate is well-organized and enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced environment. This position is eligible for a $5000 sign-on Bonus.

Job Responsibilities:

• The Weekend Nurse is an integral part of an interdisciplinary hospice team responsible for caring for patients at the end of life.
• Makes home and hospital visits, provides information sessions, evaluates new patients, facilitates admissions to hospice services, and coordinates care planning.
• Employs triage and assessment skills to titrate medications and manage symptoms appropriately and provides education to patients and families about terminal diseases and end-of-life processes.
• Communicates with an interdisciplinary hospice team about changes in patients' needs and outcomes of interventions.

Schedule and Weekly Hours:

Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, from 9 am to 9 pm (36 hours/week).

Education, Skills and Experience:

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Massachusetts or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Bachelors preferred
• 2 years of nursing experience and at least 1 year of hospice or equivalent nursing experience
• Sensitivity to and knowledge about end-of-life issues
• Comfortable working with socioculturally diverse patients/families
• Demonstrates ability to manage pain and control symptoms
• Demonstrates flexibility and multitasking abilities
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Exceptional communication skills
• Adaptable to frequently changing patient needs

Pay Range:

$84,000 - $104,000: Baylor position (36-hour paid for 40). This number reflects an average starting range for this position. Individual pay is determined through a variety of factors, including experience, education, certifications, and skills and can exceed the range.
