Job summary

Smokey Point Behavioral Hospital in Marysville, WA is seeking a Per Diem Recreational Therapist to support patient treatment goals through engaging activity services.

The role requires a 4-year degree with applicable licensure (Washington) and CPR/CPI certifications; at least one year of related experience is preferred. The weekend shift offers flexible, per diem hours and the chance to contribute to a compassionate behavioral health team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in occupational therapy, art, music, recreational therapy, or movement therapy; Master’s degree preferred.
• Certification or licensure by the state of Washington and/or national governing body in art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy.
• One year of related experience; knowledge of psychiatric patient care preferred.
• CPR certification and CPI training required prior to assisting with restraining procedures; may require overtime and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Observe and assess patients’ physical and mental conditions and needs.
• Document changes in appearance, behavior, and progress toward treatment goals.
• Provide psychosocial/leisure and recreational therapy assessments and skills development.
• Assist patients toward independence.
• Plan and implement activity therapy for assigned caseload within the facility.
• Model and teach social, coping, and stress management techniques.
• Contribute to treatment plans with specific goals and interventions in therapeutic activities.
