Carson City Parks, Recreation, and Open Space is seeking a part-time Range Safety Officer to operate and supervise the Carson Rifle and Pistol Range in Carson City, NV. The role includes enforcing safety rules, assisting patrons with malfunctions, and performing maintenance tasks across the range facilities.

Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED and 1 year in customer service or parks operations, plus a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a High School education or GED and 1 year of experience in customer service, parks operations or Range Safety Officer (RSO).
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
• NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Certificate at time of hire.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates and supervises the Carson Rifle and Pistol Range, including long range, short range, shooting bays, restrooms, and surrounding areas.
• Educates users on facility rules and safety procedures and enforces compliance.
• Assists patrons with firearm stoppages or malfunctions to protect patrons.
• Performs routine maintenance and safety-related tasks (painting, reporting hazards, basic carpentry, plumbing, concrete forms, cleaning of facilities).
• Maintains cleanliness of buildings, grounds, and restrooms; collects trash; prevents graffiti; reports issues.
• Conducts cash handling for payments and deposits; manages supplies.
• Attends safety meetings and follows safety protocols; responds to questions and complaints.
• Provides first aid when needed and writes incident reports.
