Join to apply for the Weekend Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) role at Cedarhurst Senior Living

Cedarhurst, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a Full-Time Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) at Cedarhurst of Bloomington community. This position requires weekend dayshift availability.

As a Qualified Medication Aide, you will promote the delivery of resident care utilizing a team approach in conjunction with resident assistants, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Your role will be as a primary provider of resident care and distribution of medications and, in addition, will be to promote physical, personal, and emotional well-being of each resident and strive to maintain the ultimate goal, which is to return the resident to their maximum level of self-care and independence, when possible.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing direct resident care services including medicine distribution and following individualized care plans.
  2. Performing resident evaluations and monitoring changes in condition.
  3. Administering medications, including glucose monitoring and insulin administration (where applicable).
  4. Assisting residents with activities of daily living and transfers.
  5. Maintaining accurate documentation and participating in interdisciplinary meetings.
  6. Checking vital signs, weights, blood sugars, and other health indicators.
  7. Working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure resident well-being.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or GED and current state certification (CMT, QMA, CMA, L1MA, insulin-certified).
  2. Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or CPR certification.
  3. At least one year of related experience preferred.
  4. Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs independently.
  5. Knowledge of laws and regulations related to senior care and experience with electronic health records.
