Job summary

The Children’s Museum of Manhattan is seeking an on-call Public Programs Fill-In Supervisor to support weekend and special events for children birth-10 and their families. The role involves supervising Museum Educators, coordinating activities, and assisting with performances and workshops with guest artists.

Primarily weekend work, per-diem, with a focus on creating welcoming spaces, safety, and successful program delivery at 212 West 83rd Street, New York, NY 10024.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory role.
• Experience working in retail, cultural centers, community-based organizations, performing arts organizations, or museums.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Excel, and scheduling software.
• Excellent judgment, professionalism and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive matters.
• Ability to receive and provide feedback in a professional and respectful manner.
• Ability to engage with children and adults in a welcoming, friendly, and professional manner.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor CMOM’s team of Museum Educators and ensure events and daily programs begin on time and that museum policies are followed.
• Run events, workshops, and performances, and larger cultural holiday festivals with visiting and guest collaborators.
• Provide oversight and support in set-up and break-down of family programs.
• Engage visiting families and children in programs including artmaking, STEAM activities, storytelling, facilitated play, movement, and music.
• Assist with the documentation of all programs.
