Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for weekend PM coverage on the Hospitalist 1 (HSP1) unit. You will provide patient-centered nursing care, follow hospital standards, and support bedside staff.

Responsibilities include collecting assessments, notifying RNs of concerns, documenting care, and responding to emergencies while educating patients and families. Current AL LPN license and BLS are required, with ACLS/PALS as applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program or equivalent is required.
• Current Alabama LPN license or license-by-endorsement is required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required or obtained within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care following the nursing process and hospital policies.
• Orient patients and families to surroundings and act as patient advocate.
• Collect data, notify RN of potential problems, evaluate responses, and document care.
• Respond to emergencies and mentor other team members.
