Responsibilities

• Collects patient samples using best practices for phlebotomy.
• Documents receipt of patient samples in LIS and prepares them for analysis.
• Collects patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies, procedures and regulatory standards.
• Correlates patient samples to provider laboratory test orders in LIS/EMR.
• Performs and reports Point of Care laboratory testing as required.
• Communicates effectively with nursing and unit staff regarding patient collections.
