Job summary

McAlester Regional Health Center is seeking a PRN Phlebotomist to collect blood specimens during weekend day shifts in the hospital setting. You will perform venipuncture and capillary draws, ensure proper labeling, and maintain patient comfort and safety while following established safety procedures.

Experience with venipuncture, phlebotomy certification, and familiarity with EMR/LIS is preferred. This role requires reliability for weekend coverage and strong interpersonal skills to support

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
• Current certification as a phlebotomy technician (CPT/PBT) required.
• Experience with venipuncture and specimen collection preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection following protocols.
• Verify patient identity and document labeling of specimens.
• Maintain clean and organized phlebotomy area and equipment.
• Explain procedures to patients and alleviate anxiety.
• Collaborate with lab staff to ensure timely processing and transport of specimens.
• Adhere to infection control and regulatory requirements.
• Manage phlebotomy supplies and report shortages or malfunctions.
