Job summary

Brandywine Counseling & Community Services, Inc. (BCCS) is seeking a Part-Time Weekend Peer Recovery Specialist to support clients at our Dover Hopes and Dreams Drop-in Center.

You will work Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., totaling 10 hours per week, helping peers build recovery skills, social connections, and access to community resources. Starting at $18/hour with compensation based on experience and certification.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED.
• REQUIRED: Valid driver’s license with 2 points or less.
• REQUIRED: Must be a peer—BCCS encourages applicants in recovery.
• REQUIRED: Minimum of 2 years’ in recovery.
• Preferred: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS); if not certified, certification within first year.

Responsibilities

• Supports clients in building social skills in the community to enhance job acquisition.
• Educates and empowers individuals by helping them develop a strong recovery support system.
• Assist individuals with self-care, coping skills, and the benefits of long-term recovery.
• Models effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
• Performs duties as assigned by the Peer Recovery Supervisor.
• Supports clients in articulating personal recovery and wellness goals and actions to reach them.
• Teaches clients how to facilitate their recovery and overcome fears.
• Teaches and role models the value of each person’s recovery experience.
• Uses problem‑solving techniques with individuals and groups.
• Completes wellness plans and makes referrals to outside agencies.
