Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking a Physician Assistant for weekend coverage with the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care team. This role focuses on inpatient care, ICU coverage, and coordination with the residency program during weekends.

The PA will perform rounds, assist in the OR, coordinate admissions and discharges, and collaborate with surgeons and staff. Prior trauma or acute surgical care experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current NYS licensure and NCCPA certification.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; ATLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient rounds and contribute to clinical decision-making.
• Coordinate admissions and transfers for smooth transitions of care.
• Document patient encounters in EMR accurately and timely.
• Provide first or second assist in the operating room.
• Coordinate discharges and arrange follow-up care.
• Respond to ACS/CC consults from the ED and provide timely evaluations.
• Collaborate with surgeons, residents, nursing staff, and departments.
• Support trauma and acute care protocols during high-acuity situations.
• Participate in weekend hand-offs and care coordination meetings.
