Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Vascular Technologist performs diagnostic, non-invasive, vascular exams on patients using ultrasound and physiologic testing equipment to evaluate the Cerebrovascular, Peripheral arterial, and Peripheral venous systems. Job may also include Abdominal Vascular evaluation. On-Call is required.
Essential Job Functions:
Licensing/Certification
Credentialed in vascular technology by one of the following organizations preferred at time of hire, required within 1 year: Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVT) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Vascular Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)(required)
BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
Education
Associate's degree in an applied health science field with concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or other related study. (preferred)
Work Experience
One year of experience as vascular technologist (preferred)
Training
EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)
Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred)
